> Wagrain – a place to stay Wagrain
is a place that couldn’t be more typical of the Salzburg region.
A dreamy panorama extends between stately mountain slopes and gentle
Alpine meadow scenery. At 850 metres above sea level, a great variety
of activities will tempt you in the summer as well as winter. With
sporty challenges, relaxing hikes, thrilling excursions or just
the pleasure of doing nothing - feeling good is not a foreign expression
for anyone here.
In this holiday region that is rich in tradition, hospitality and
sociability are quite at home. The natural surroundings, the magnificent,
fragrant mountain air, the friendly people, and not least the close
proximity to the festival city and airport of Salzburg make this
location into a popular travel destination.
140 kilometres of marked hiking and walking trails, Alpine huts
with catering and specially marked mountain bike routes ensure a
rich, summery, field of activities. In the winter, on the other
hand, carvers, Alpine skiers and snowboarders can look forward to
innumerable lifts, 860 magnificent kilometres of powdery slopes,
and almost 300 kilometres of prepared cross-country ski trails in
the Amadé Ski World.
If that weren’t enough active recreational activities, Wagrain
still offers pure swimming fun with the Amadé Water World.
Completely independent of whether it is stormy or snowing or if
the sun is shining, water fans are always at the right place here. However,
Wagrain is also famous for “Silent Night”. Who doesn’t
know it, this beautiful and devotional Christmas carol? The lyricist
Joseph Mohr lived here. When touring through the silent night district,
you can find many interesting places of the writer.
In short – Wagrain is the ideal location to immerse oneself
in the fascinating Salzburg country life. Here, tradition meets with
the cultural heights of a world-famous festival city, and down to
earth cooking is coupled with athletic challenges in the fresh air.
If you like things quiet and cosy, then you can relax right in the
middle of the healthy mountainous world, and the curious ones can
take in the numerous events or head out to exciting excursions in
the immediate and more distant vicinity. Then, at home in the evening,
things can once again become quiet and cosy. |
