> Salzburg, the festival
city The festival city of Salzburg is a worldwide esteemed
cultural metropolis that is well within reach. Just short of 70
kilometres to the north of Wagrain, it is very easy to reach by
the Tauern autobahn.
Theatre performances, concerts, visits to museums and galleries,
dance events, or literature evenings - the cultural programme is
just one of the reasons that makes this city so enticing to visitors.
Art has captivated the city, and famous, creative people from a
great variety of genres have contributed to its flair.
It is also essential to devote some attention to the wonderful architecture
of this Baroque jewel. While strolling through the city, you will
be charmed by the most beautiful alleys, secretive corners, and
splendid facades. The residence, cathedral, Franciscan church, the
old St. Peter district, and not least the fortress are the structures
that tell of a distant time and distant world.
On the other hand, however, magnificent places also lie in waiting
that are very contemporary and tangible, which promise culinary
treats and the atmosphere of modern-day life. It doesn’t matter
whether it is a classical coffeehouse where you can chat for hours
and read the newspapers, or the lively outdoor restaurants that
afford a view of the goings-on in the narrow streets while your
meal is served steaming to your table. Every single corner here
is literally inviting.
Tradition, culture, quality, Baroque insight? Salzburg can do all
of this, however, this far from describes the multifaceted nature
of this city. Only your personal experience can help. A personal visit
is the best way to really get to know this city. |
